چکیده

This work is motivated by the need to propose a model for the study of personalized hypermedia systems with a competency approach, which is one of United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) and General Administration of Higher Education Technology (DGEST) recommendations. We use computer agents, to construct a student model with emphasis on his learning style, multiple intelligences and the competency evaluation to adapt the course material according to the student’s needs. The system will also use artificial intelligence techniques. The systems will be used at a university level; the primary goal is to help each student learn and thus reach a suitable competency level.

Hybrid Adaptive Educational Hypermedia ‎Recommender Accommodating User’s Learning ‎Style and Web Page Features‎

Personalized recommenders have proved to be of use as a solution to reduce the information overload ‎problem. Especially in Adaptive Hypermedia System, a recommender is the main module that delivers ‎suitable learning objects to learners. Recommenders suffer from the cold-start and the sparsity problems. ‎Furthermore, obtaining learner’s preferences is cumbersome. Most studies have only focused...

An Agent-Based Approach to Adaptive Hypermedia Using a Link Service

This paper describes an approach to adaptive hypermedia by incorporating linkbases into an agent-based system (PAADS). The agents are built on top of an agent framework developed at Southampton University. Personal agents keep a local user model and provide adaptive navigation support. This is accomplished by extracting keywords found in the user model and through the user’s browsing history, a...

Adaptive Assessment Improving Interaction in an Educational Hypermedia System

In this paper, we present an adaptive assessment framework as part of the diagnostic module in the Adaptive Educational Hypermedia System INSPIRE-INtelligent System for Personalized Instruction in a Remote Environment. The main goal of the assessment procedure is to provide assessment of learner’s knowledge level and to give the learner a chance to keep track of his/her learning progress. Adapt...

A review of agent-based modeling (ABM) concepts and some of its main applications in management science

We live in a very complex world where we face complex phenomena such as social norms and new technologies. To deal with such phenomena, social scientists often use reductionism approach where they reduce them to some lower-lever variables and model the relationships among them through a scheme of equations. This approach that is called equation based modeling (EBM) has some basic weaknesses in ...

A fuzzy approach to adaptive hypermedia

This paper presents an open, concurrent model of adaptive hypermedia; all its functionality and data are completely distributed on a web of autonomous actors. The model that enables the system to the interactive adaptivity is a fuzzy stereotype-based user model; its presentation and application are exploited in the cooperative actor-based environment, generated from the hypermedia model. The me...
